UAA provides students with opportunities for real-world, practical experience. We make their coursework even more relevant by giving them the chance to apply their learning hands-on.

Through multidisciplinary partnerships like the Alaska Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, housed in the colleges of Engineering and Business and Public Policy, students explore the use of data science and artificial intelligence in Alaska’s finance industry.

The College of Business and Public Policy shapes a thriving finance sector led by Alaska talent. As a statewide hub, a new Finance Lab will combine classroom teaching with real-world experiences and collaborations. Opportunities like the Upstart Internships offered through the UAA Business Enterprise Institute pair entrepreneurial-minded students with local firms.

UAS is collaborating with in-state businesses, helping them adjust their business models to stay current with evolving industry trends. By way of our research, we provide critical information to help essential industries acclimate their work practices in response to changing environmental conditions.

Our students engage one-to-one with top-notch professors and dedicated staff. They have the opportunity study intertidal ecology along our expansive marine coastline, explore Alaska history and public policy in the state’s capital, and take outdoor studies classes on nearby mountains and glaciers.

UAA generates awareness of products available from Alaskan firms through our Buy Alaska initiative. Developed decades ago, the initiative remains are relevant today as it was in its inception. We provide students with opportunities for real-world, practical experience. We make their course work even more relevant by giving them the chance to apply their learning hands-on.

Through programs like the College of Business and Public Policy’s Business Plan Competition, we encourage students to present their ideas and interact with seasoned business professionals, giving the participants pivotal insight and mentoring.
