Life-Changing education

Achieving a goal. Providing for a family. Fulfilling a dream. Putting opportunities in reach. Access to higher education makes these things possible.

We know that education is life-changing. We want to help more students—more Alaskans—attain their degree and open the door to a brighter future not only for themselves but for their families. We know that all too often, educational and career ambitions seem unattainable, and we are breaking down the barriers that stand in the way of degree and certificate completion.

We are creating broad paths to education. We are helping dreams turn into reality. Read on to see how our three institutions are making a difference.

Reaching fordreams

Through flexible programs offered both on-campus and online, UAS offers students degrees designed to meet the needs of Alaska. Specialized programs, including Preparing Indigenous Teachers and Administrators for Alaska's Schools (PITAAS), offer scholarships to help fill the need for Indigenous teachers in Alaska.

Our robust support services help students define and realize goals—and help them adjust to college life and feel at home. No matter what program our students are enrolled in or where they are studying from, they receive personalized services and engaging educational opportunities from our outstanding staff and faculty. Through community and K-12 partnerships, we help transform Alaska through the power of education.

Striving to fill a need

Through our eCampus, UAF offers dozens of fully online programs that allow students to pursue their education on their own schedule. Through our robust student support services, we help students define and realize their goals.

Our School of Education’s Alaska Indigenous Teacher Initiatives, such as the Alaska Indigenous Teach Corp and Sustaining Indigenous Local Knowledge, Arts and Teaching project (SILKAT), strive to fill the need for Indigenous teachers. SOE prepares all students to be the best educators for our culturally and geographically distinct state and, through partner districts, provides internships in diverse schools throughout the state.
